Wardrobe Edit — What To Expect When You Work With MeaghanStyles
If you’ve been thinking about booking a wardrobe edit session but aren’t quite sure what it actually involves, this post is for you.
I find that most women arrive at my work having tried other things first. They’ve decluttered on their own, watched the videos, followed the advice, stood in front of their wardrobe with the best intentions and still ended up in the same place. Overwhelmed. Unseen. Reaching for the same safe pieces on rotation.
So before you book, I want to tell you exactly what a wardrobe edit session with me looks like. Not to sell you on it. But because I think when you understand how different this is from anything else you’ve tried, you’ll understand why it works.
We start with a conversation, not about your clothes
Every session begins before we open the wardrobe door.
We talk first. About you. Who you are right now, what season of life you’re in, what you’ve been carrying, how you want to feel when you walk out the door in the morning. What stories you’ve been telling yourself about your body, your age, your right to take up space and be seen. What version of yourself you’ve been dressing for and whether she’s still true.
Most women tell me nobody has ever asked them these questions in a styling context before.
That conversation is not a preamble to the real work. It is the real work. Everything we do in the wardrobe after it flows directly from what we find there.
We do everything via Zoom, and it’s better than you think.
All sessions are conducted online, via Zoom, from your own home, in front of your own wardrobe. You don’t need to be in Melbourne. You don’t need to be anywhere in particular. You just need a device, a connection, and your actual wardrobe.
I want you in your own space because that context is irreplaceable. I’m not seeing you in a studio or a fitting room where everything feels slightly performative. I’m seeing you exactly as you are, in the environment where you actually get dressed every morning. That tells me everything I need to know before we’ve even begun.
We go through everything, and I mean everything
Once we move into the wardrobe, we look at it all. Not just the pieces you feel good about. Everything. The things with tags still on. The items hanging at the back that you haven’t touched in years. The pieces you bought in hopeful moments and quietly forgot. The safe neutrals you’ve been hiding behind.
Every piece tells me something. The ones you reach for without thinking. The ones you apologise for as you show me. The ones that make your energy shift the moment you put them on.
I am reading all of it.
We try things on. We put together outfits you haven’t considered. We find combinations that have been hiding in plain sight. And we gently, honestly look at what belongs to who you used to be and what belongs to who you’re becoming.
Nothing gets thrown out without you feeling certain
This is not a session where I stand beside your wardrobe and make quick decisions about what stays and what goes. This is not a performance of efficiency.
Every piece we decide to release, you will feel certain about. Because by the time we get there you will have tried it, felt it on your body, and already know the answer. I’m just there to confirm what you already know and to make the decision feel safe enough to act on.
What you leave with
By the end of our session you will know exactly who you are in your wardrobe. You will have outfits ready to wear, real outfits, for your actual life, built from what you already own. You will have absolute clarity on what’s missing and what to look for when you shop next. And you will have the eye and the instinct to keep doing this for yourself long after our session ends.
That last part matters most to me. I don’t create clients who need me. I create women who carry the work with them forever. My clients call it the WWMS effect, What Would Meaghan Say. They ask themselves that question in their wardrobes every morning, alone, long after our work together has ended.
Because the shift doesn’t just happen in the session. It happens in every morning that follows it.
